Smokers are also at increased risk of worsening heart disease, especially if you have had heart bypass surgery, a heart attack or a possible blood vessel stent.

Smoking not only affects your cardiovascular health, but smoking also affects the health of those around you who do not smoke. Exposure to secondhand smoke poses the same risk to a non-smoker as to someone who smokes, because the person is breathing in the smoke as well. Risks include stroke, heart attack and heart disease in non-smokers too.
